Official intimation has been received from the War Office that Private George Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cook, Greenfield Cottage, Garnant, was killed in action in Salonica.

Private Cook enlisted in the third week of the war from Cwmgorse, where he was very highly respected.

A remarkable coincidence occurred in connection with Private Cook’s death. Miss Carrie James, who was engaged to Private Cook, passed away on the same date. Miss James was the sister of Mrs. B. Lewis, Post Office, Pembrey. [Fallen]
