FOR PEACE AND LIBERTY.
Ye sons of Britain, heroes of the day,
Our hope and strength in this momentous fray;
Lovers of home and hearth, compatriots true,
Who stemmed the German tide from breaking through
To inundate our shores, like Belgium brave,
To conquer all – make every one a slave.
The Teuton storm is raging o’er the plain,
And Zeppelins poor down their fiery rain;
The thundering guns! What ravages they make!
The valleys tremble, and the mountains shake.
The ancestral spirit in your hearts abounds;
Onward you go till victory resounds,
Trust in your God, be faithful to the end,
God is the Lord of hosts; on Him depend.
Your sacred task is hard on land and sea,
For nations’ lasting peace and liberty.
