He was serving with the R. F. A., and December 16th met with his injuries, dying the following day in hospital. He was a native of Carmarthen, and only 21 years of age. At the outbreak of the war he was a collier at Tirydail, and failing to pass the doctor at Ammanford, proceeded to Tumble, where he was successful and enlisted. He had been for five months in the Dardanelles and at Cape Helas. While at Ammanford he was a faithful member of Ebenezer Chapel, and also took part in “The Middleman” when it was performed by the I. O. G. T. Dramatic Society at the opening of the New Palace Theatre. 10th February 1916 Gunner Evan Lewis, R. F. A., of Alfania house, Florence Road, Tirydail, whose death from gunshot wounds in the breast, has been reported. He was only 21 years of age. He had been for five months in the Dardanelles and at Cape Helles. Formerly he was employed as a collier at Tirydail, and was a faithful member of Ebenezer.
