PANSY DAY
In aid of the British and Foreign Sailors’ Society, a “Pansy” Day was held on Saturday, and the pretty artificial flowers found a ready sale at the hands of the many young ladies engaged in the good work.
The arrangements at Ammanford were in the hands of Mrs. W. N. Jones, Mrs. H. Herbert, Mrs. Thomas (N. and P. Bank), Mrs. C. E. Morgan (Capital and Counties Bank, who acted as treasurer), Mrs. J. Lewis, Miss M. Williams, and other ladies; at Penygroes, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. T. Morgan, and Mrs. Clutterbuck; at Tycroes, Mrs. Jones, Emporium; and at Blaenau, Mrs. Gwilym Rees. The secretary was Mr. W. L. Smith, solicitor, and the proceeds amounted to over “40.

Sergt. Trevor Evans, R. F. A., who has been invalided home, had a warm reception at a concert given in his honour at Gwynfryn Chapel, on Monday evening, under the presidency of Councillor Jno. Davies, J. P.
There was a large attendance, and during the evening the Chairman, presented Sergt. Evans with monetary gifts on behalf of the church members and the Ammanford Reception Committee.
Speeches were also made by Councillor Wm. Evans and Mr. Dd. Griffiths, Wind Street, an admirable programme was contributed to by Madame Jones and Mr. Tom Williams, who sang a duet; Madame Rachel Jones-Rees, Madame May Roberts, and Mr. W. T. Rhys, solos; a quartette party conducted by Mr. Frank Hughes; Mr. Edison Price, A. C. V., violin solo; Mr. Thos. Jones, recital on the organ (he also accompanied); and Mr. Jno. Williams, Waunwen, recitation. The proceeding were heartily enjoyed by all present.
