DISTRICT NEWS.

The Penybank Ambulance Society met for the first time this season on Tuesday night, under the direction of Dr. Price, Ammanford. The female section meets on Thursday.

Gunner J. A. Blackwell, R. F. A., son of Mr. Samuel Blackwell, of Pantyffynnon Road, Ammanford, has bee awarded the Military Medal for bravery on the field. He as been out in France eighteen months.

Lieut. C. A. Carter, R. F. A., formerly engaged as clerk at the Ammanford Colliery offices, and who since the outbreak of war has been out with the Mediterranean Forces, has been wounded in the thigh. He is now in the Russian Hospital, 8, South Audley Street, London, W., where he lies very bright and cheerful.

Cadet James Richards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richards, Ystradamman Farm, Ammanford, had been gazetted second-lieutenant, and is attached to the South Wales Borderers. He enlisted from Aberystwyth University College in the Public Schools Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, and saw service throughout last winter in France, where his ability and skill marked him out for promotion. He has a brother a sergeant in the Welsh Guards.
