To the Editor, Amman Valley Chronicle
Sir, – I am taking the opportunity of writing you these few lines in a barn “Somewhere in France.”
Things are pretty good out here now, considering the circumstances we are in. the weather is a bit damp and chilly, but we are sticking it well so far. We have only a few casualties in our Battalion, and so far everything is going on all right.
I am writing you these few lines for you to ask some of the old folks at Ammanford if they could see their way clear to send us a football. When back at rest from the trenches it would be a boon for us to keep ourselves warm and in good condition to meet the Huns.
So, if you could kindly find space in your paper for this little scrawl, and you can tell them that the boys of the Carmarthenshire Battalion would be very thankful if a response came to this letter. – Yours, &c.,
