LETTERS FROM FRONT.

Mr. Herbert Samways, headmaster at Maesybont School, Llandebie, who has between 30 and 40 old pupils in the Army, many of them at the Front, of whom one has been killed and four wounded, has received the following letter from one of them, Private. David J. Jones. Allied Expeditionary Force, Greece.
He states: —

“I take the privilege and the best of pleasure in writing you a few lines, and, on behalf of all of us boys from there, to let you know that the three of us are in good health, and all things going well up to the present time.

We are now in this country, Greece, up in the Balkans, not very far from Salonika. We’ve been here now three months. Here we haven’t seen action so far, but expecting any day now! We are busy digging trenches every day, ready for the enemy.

I know you are reading the news over there, about our operations here. Rough weather we are having, snow and frost; very cold sometimes. We are well clothed here. You must excuse us for not writing before, and David Everlasting and Willie, my brother, say the same.

Hope all’s well with you and the family, and Mr. Thomas, the Post Office. Good old Maesybont School. I have read the news about the concerts you made for the boys of the 4th Welsh Territorials on sick leave from the Dardanelles.

Well done! indeed. I must conclude, as ‘Lights our’ is going. Excuse writing, will write again if I’ll have time; so best wishes and good luck to all.”
