RUSSIAN FLAG DAY FOR AMMANFORD.

A meeting was convened by Mr. W. L. Smith on Tuesday evening, with the view of making arrangements for a Flag Day in Ammanford and district for the benefit of the Russian Red Cross Society, the dated suggested being Saturday, September 11 th .

The project was warmly taken up, and a successful day is anticipated.

The following ladies were present: —

Mrs. W. N. Jones, Dyffryn; Mrs. E. R. Fisher, Wansbeck; Mrs. John Lewis, Mrs. Philips, Parcyrhun; Mrs. F. T. Evans, Wind Street; Mrs. Dan Jones, Prnlan; Mrs. J. Williams, Brynyrerir; Mrs. D. A. Roberts, Florence Road; Mrs. Davies, Ploice Station; Mrs. T. J. Rees, Hall Street; Mrs. Clutterbuck, Penygroes; Mrs. Evan Evans, Metropolitan Bank; Mrs. W. Williams, Penygroes; Miss Florence Jones, dyffryn; Miss F. Hughes, High Street; Miss L. Richards, Brynffin; Miss Williams, Gwynffryn; Misses Maggie and Agnes Davies, Police Station; Miss Marjory John, Railway Hotel; Miss Harries, Irlwyn.

It was decided that the Council Schools should be the depot where the ladies' boxes are to be brought, the collection commencing at 11 a.m. and finishing at 9 p.m.

The secretary was instructed to communicate with ladies representative of Brynamman. The following were selected for allotted districts in Ammanford, Llandebie, Tycroes, Blaenau, Saron and Penygroes : —

Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Clutterbuck, Penygroes; Mrs. Gwilym rees, Blaenay, and Mrs. Morgans, Emlyn Colliery, were appointed to look after Penygroes district; Miss Mathews, Miss Painter, and Miss Roberts, Felinfoel House, for Llandebie; Mrs. Jones Emporium, Tycroes district; and Mrs. Morgans, Schools, Saron district.

The Ammanford district was allotted to the following : —

Miss fisher, Miss F. Hughes, Miss Jones (Bridgend), Miss Elsie Towyn Jones and Miss Ira Jones (Arosfa, Llandebie), Miss Richards, Miss Dilys Herbert, Miss Sybil Johns, Misses Maggie and Agnes Davies, Miss Harries (Irlwyn), Miss Richards (Brynffin), Mrs. D. A. Roberts, Miss Maggie Owen (Dynevor). Miss Violet Thomas and Miss Jones (Violet Villa). Miss Shepherd (Pontamman), and the Misses Williams (Wyrddol House).

Letters were received, regretting their unavoidable absence from Mrs. H. Herbert, Miss Painter, Mrs. Thomas (Vicarage, Llandebie), and Mrs. J. Griffiths (Ebenezer).
