A collection of sections covering, Presentations, Awards, Promotions and Stories of those Retired. The basis of this site and the fires they attended.
This is Ammanfords account of those bitter days of 1977 and 2003. There are no photos of 1977 (execpt for the Round Tablers) There were no scabs. Our bitterness was and always will be with the employers and government.
These pertain to my career at Ammanford Station, from 1977 to 2004 copied or cut from the Guardian. These refer to Fire's and other Incidents, some of which I have attended.

Community Fire Safety is the new buzz word for the old term Fire Prevention, which for one week a year was termed Fire Safety Week where the public was instructed in fire awareness. This is divided into the old and new. |

This is a parting gift to those firefighters of time gone by. Although not complete in its early history, it is fairly comprehensive from the time I came to Ammanford Station in 1976 and my retirement in 2004.
The early days may be included when Mr. Howard Locksmith publishes his forthcoming book and he grants kind permission to add items that are relative to my resources.
I hope I will be able to add to this site during my retirement. I shall watch for items reported in the Guardian newspaper and update the site when they occur.
I researched passed Guardians for items and included those only with pictures. As I say in my site, I have only included the pictures and their stories, believing that pictures make the stories more descriptive and they tend to be the most serious of incidents. |

Acknowledgements
I take this opportunity to explain my resources and to give them the credit they deserve.
It is the photographer and the reporter who have made most of the pages within. It is they who must brave the weather and the early hours of the morning when most of the calls occur.
Their names are included at the top of the page where the story occurs.
Secondly I thank the Guardian for allowing the articles to be published. They are the owners of these articles.
And thirdly the Ammanford Library for allowing me to research the past papers and putting up with me.
I'd like to thank those who contributed in Photo's, Stories and their cherished Memories.
