FIRE BRIGADE AT XMAS

STORY: THEIR NAMES HERE

Emergencies don't stop at Christmas and neither do the fire service.

At Ammanford Fire Station five officers will be working during a variety of shifts over Christmas and New Year, from 9am to 10pm.

Unless a fire starts in the area, the officers working will find themselves faced with a quiet but full Christmas Day - because a full Christmas dinner is planned!

Although normal inspections of the station equipment will go on, the officers will only respond to emergency call.

The Christmas dinner, cooked by them all, has all the trimmings.

Sub Officer Derek Norman, pictured, who is working all over the period, said: "I have three children and when they were younger I used to get up early so that I could see them."

Officer Adrian Harrison, is working Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. He Said: "My family are used to me working over Christmas - it comes with the job.

"The children, aged seven and three will by up at 5am to see me."

TANK 11 AMOCO OIL REFINARY

This was a lucky day for Dyfed Fire Brigade. Although there had been a number of boil over's during the day the ones that occurred during the night were down to God that no one died that night.

Everyone has a story to tell of their narrow escape. This is mine.
