STATION OFFICER Roland Lewis Retires His Shoe

Rolland retires his shoes

Shoes 25 years service in fire brigade

These shoes were made for walking…Station Officer Roland Lewis regretfully bids farewell to the black leather shoes he has worn every working day for the past 25 years.

His colleagues at Ammanford Fire Station ‘piped' his new brigade shoes “aboard” when he was forced to abandon his old favourites.

His new shoes have just one advantage – they are silent, unlike his old ones which, said one colleague, warned of his approach.

Also in the picture are Leading Fireman Mark Evans (left), Fireman Clive Smith (right) and Fireman Valdis Freimanis.
