THE FIRE BRIGADE.
The Roads Committee had taken into consideration the question of overalls for members of the Fire Brigade, and sample stuff was examined, when, on the advice of Mr. B. R. Evans, a sample 7s. 6d. suit was selected and eight suits ordered.
After having before them quotations, it was decided, on the motion of Mr. J. C. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Jno. Harries, and agreed to, that a 45ft. fire escape be ordered from Messrs. Shand, Mason and Co., at $104, and that a 25ft. extending ladder be ordered from Messrs. Merryweather, at £13 2s. 6d.
Mr. Wm. Evans: What do we want a 45ft. fire escape for in Ammanford?
Mr. T. Fletcher: What is the height of the parapet at Lloyds Bank?
Mr. Wm. Evans: Thirty feet.
Mr. J. C. Shaw said it was thought that perhaps the wires would interfere, and the ladder would have to stand further off.
The report was adopted.
