HUNDREDS attended Ammanford Fire Brigade's annual fund raising open day, despite Saturday's unreasonal weather. A host of attractions, including children's rides, vintage fire appliances, games and hot food stands, whole event was a great success.

"The crowds were out and a lot of people attended so it was definitely a success," said Teifion Williams, Ammanford's station officer. "It started a bit slowly but it got better as the day went on," he added.

"The day started off cold but it warmed up after 2.30 pm and there must have been hundreds there in all."

Cash raised at the event will be spilt evenly between the brigades benevolent fund and a series of local charities.
