The Cambrian Saw Mills, Llandebie, owned by the Ocean Steam Navigational Company, was completely destroyed by fire this Thursday morning, and damage amounting to several thousands of pounds was caused.
The outbreak was discovered at about 4 o'clock, and the Ammanford AFS was summoned and arrived on the scene within ten minutes.
By this time, however, the whole of the building was ablaze, but great work was done by the personnel under the direction of Column Commander Ward and Mr. Stanley Owen in preventing the conflagration from spreading.
In addition to the machinery, building and timber, two or three lorries were completely burnt out.
The fire was got under control about 7 a.m. the cause of the fire is unknown.
